Swap products via flows for gift subscriptions is live

What’s new?
Brands can configure gift subscription-based flows to automatically swap products across gift orders, without requiring recipients to log in and make the swap manually.

Why was this needed?

Previously, product swaps for gift subscriptions were supported only through the customer portal, where recipients had to log in and manually update the product in their gift subscription. This update helps brands automate gift journeys where different products need to be sent in sequence. For example:

  • 1st order: Jasmine bouquet
  • 2nd order: Rose bouquet
  • 3rd order: Tulip bouquet

Setting up the flow

  1. Navigate to Retain → Flows → Create new flow
  2. Select the required gift subscription-based trigger and click Save

  3. Select the required IF condition
  4. In the THEN condition, select the Swap action and configure the old and new products as needed, then save the flow.

  5. A Gift subscription badge is shown next to the flow name on the listing page for easy identification.

Considerations to keep in mind

  1. Gift subscription triggers are visible only for stores that are eligible for the gift feature and have at least one active gift program.
  2. Once a gift-based flow is created and saved, it cannot be converted into a normal flow by changing the trigger.
  3. Product swaps follow the existing gift subscription swap logic and can happen only between products within the same gift program.
  4. The new product is added with the same price, discounts, and quantity as the old product. No additional charges or refunds are applied for any price difference.

Acquire with trial product and switch to BYOB for recurring orders using flows

Until now, brands could only add preset bundles to subscriptions through Flows. This limited brands that wanted to acquire subscribers using a low-commitment trial product and then transition them into a Build Your Own Bundle (BYOB) experience for recurring orders.

What’s new

Brands can now add BYOB bundles via Loop Flows as either a one-time product or a subscription.

This enables a powerful acquisition strategy:

  • Start with a trial product to reduce the entry barrier for new customers.
  • After the trial, automatically transition the subscriber to a BYOB bundle for future recurring orders.
  • Increase AOV and long-term subscription value once the customer is engaged.

When the flow is triggered, the configured BYOB bundle is automatically added to the subscription.

How to configure

  • In the Flows action, select whether to add the bundle as a one-time product or as a subscription. A list of available bundles, including BYOB bundles, will be visible for selection.
  • Choose the BYOB bundle you want to add, configure the products, variants, and quantity, then click "Add Product."
  • Discounts on the bundle will be based on the discounts configured within the bundle.
  • Only the bundle product limit is considered in this action configuration; category limits will not be applied.

Preference to select the gift widget by default and to hide "This is a gift purchase" option for gift subscriptions

What’s new?
A new preferences tab is now available in the gift widget configuration under "Gifts > Widget > Preferences"

- Select "This is a gift purchase" option by default.
- Hide "This is a gift purchase" option to prevent customers from purchasing gift products as regular items.

Why was this needed?
Some brands sell gift-specific products, where showing a “gift widget” selection step is unnecessary. Previously, customers had to select the gift widget to see the gift form, which added avoidable friction. This new preference lets brands set gift widget visibility per use case, so the gift form experience stays simpler and more intentional.

Subscription widget improvements

What’s new?
Merchants can now seamlessly display the unit price configured on their Shopify product page directly on the Loop widget. Additionally, the "Add to cart" button will now show the total price based on the selected quantity.

Why was this needed?

Previously, merchants couldn't directly display these details and had to reach out to the Loop team for custom coded solution to achieve the desired result. This update streamlines the process.

Prerequisites

  • Merchants must define the unit price on the product configuration page in Shopify.

How to access the configuration:

Case 1: Display per unit price below the amount

- Navigate to Acquire > Widget > Open the required widget > Preferences
- Enable the checkbox for "Display per unit price below the amount"

Case 2: Display total price on the add to cart button

Three new variables are now available under Widgets > Texts

- Add to cart button text: {{total_one_time_price}}
- Add subscription to cart button text: {{total_subscription_price}} ; {{striked_total_one_time_price}}

Customer portal experience:

  • For the one-time option

  • For the subscription option

Add customer tags in upgrade profiles

What’s new?
Add customer tags to easily identify customers who have accepted the specific upgrade offer.

Why was this needed?
Merchants required this so they can tag and track customers who completed an upgrade and, based on that, add a free gift to their subscription as per their business use case.

How to access the configuration?
  • Navigate to Grow > Upgrades > Create new profile
  • Select the required upgrade type and go to the "Customer tags" section.

Increase upgrade conversions with clearer upgrade choices 📈

We’ve added a new preference in the Upgrade flow: Multiple upgrade options visibility, with two ways to present upgrade choices:

  • Show the highest priority product as selected in the upgrade profile (default)
  • Show available SKU upgrade options so customers can choose what works best for them 🆕

By showing options directly, you improve upgrade discoverability and give customers more flexibility, helping drive higher upgrade conversions.

Major Improvement in Preset Bundle Purchase from Checkout 🚀

Preset bundles purchased from sources outside the Loop widget previously did not add the bundle’s child items during checkout, leading to inconsistent bundle behavior depending on where the purchase originated. This improvement ensures preset bundles are processed consistently across all purchase sources.

What’s new

  • Checkout orders are now automatically edited to include preset bundle child items whenever the parent bundle product is purchased.
  • Child items are added with a 100% discount, maintaining the correct bundle structure in the order.
  • This works for both one-time purchases and subscriptions.
  • The behavior is now consistent regardless of the checkout entry point (Loop widget or other purchase sources).

This update ensures reliable bundle composition and consistent order structure across all checkout flows. 🚀

Remove discount action enhancement in flows

We have added new match conditions (All, Contains, Equals) to the Remove discount action in Flows, giving brands precise control over which discount codes are removed.
This helps avoid conflicts from volume or product-level discounts, ensuring remove and swap workflows run smoothly.

What’s new

  • Three new match conditions are now available in the Remove discount action:
    • All: Removes any discount code, regardless of what’s applied.
    • Contains: Removes discounts where the code includes the entered text (e.g., BFCM removes BFCM10, VIP-BFCM, BFCM_2025).
    • Equals: Removes only an exact code match (e.g., WELCOME10 removes only WELCOME10, not WELCOME10-NEW).

Why this matters
Brands using Kaching bundles with volume discounting often apply product-level discounts that can conflict with product removal or swap steps. This enhancement lets brands remove discounts first, then run remove/swap actions smoothly, without discount-related blockers.
